The Desktop Experience feature is needed if you want to start Microsoft OneNote 2013 in Windows Server 2012 R2.

When you try to start OneNote 2013 on a computer that is running Windows Server 2012 R2 and does not have the Desktop Experience feature installed, you receive the following error message:

OneNote cannot start because the Desktop Experience feature is not installed. Install it in the Windows Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off.

Steps to Resolve:

Go to Control Panel : Ctrl + R then type “control” and Enter :

Click “Turn Windows Features on or off”

Go directly to “Features” and select “Desktop Experience” after this a prompt will come Click Add features :

Click “Install” in Confirmation Screen :

Wait for some time:

Click Close and Restart your Server :
